The Harvard Study of Adult Development, which began in 1938 and continues to this day, is the longest longitudinal happiness study ever conducted. The Harvard Study of Adult Development began in 1938 and has been the longest longitudinal study on happiness ever conducted.
Harvard Study was designed to find out what makes people flourish. Its conclusion: good relationships are key. Harvard Study found that the quality and quantity of relationships have the greatest impact on a person's health and happiness.
Robert Waldinger, current director of Harvard Study, uses an excellent phrase to describe this relationship factor: social fit. In The Good Life, the book Waldinger co-authored with his wife, Waldinger never explains or unpacks the concept of social fit.

Ask yourself if you agree or disagree with the following statements:

I can ask questions to facilitate conversation and build relationships. Both elements of fitness are interconnected. You can become fit in both the physical and social realms by exercising your capabilities. The more you exercise, the greater the number of capacities you have.
