The Material Review. Michael Williams, the original men's fashion blogger (listen to my podcast with him and David Coggins on developing your "personal Uniform") has revived a sister site that he used with his A Continuous Lean website. The Material Review, a bi-weekly Substack, is where Williams and Taylor Stacey highlight cool things they have found on the web in relation to gear, sports, travel, food and life. You'll discover links to articles and products that are interesting (many of them made in the USA). This is how the web should be: human-curated links rather than algorithmically-pulled-together content goo.
St. Thomas Aquinas Prayer Before Study Andrew McLuhan tweeted the prayer written by St. Thomas Aquinas, which his father Eric McLuhan - another deep media thinker - kept next to his desk. This is a prayer that you can say before studying. I like the idea that you can bring soul to your intellectual pursuits.
Legendary Protein Toaster Pastry. I am always looking for convenient and tasty high-protein snacks. Legendary Protein Toaster Pastry is one that I have been enjoying recently. These are a low-carb, high-protein alternative to Pop-Tarts. These Pop-Tarts are only 180 calories, contain 20 grams of protein, and only 22 grams carbs. (A lot of these carbs is fiber). These come in many flavors including chocolate, brown sugar cinnamon and my favorite, brown sugar cinnamon. They come in a variety of flavors, including brown sugar cinnamon (my favorite! Does it taste like a Pop-Tart exactly? No, they do not. They are a "frankenfood", which is a food that has little in common with the real thing and should be eaten only occasionally. Surely. They're also great when you want something low-calorie and high-protein on the road. I use them as my favorite road trip snack.
Quote of the week
When we know that we can rely on him, a man has already achieved a certain level of importance in the world. I've seen many times in my life that a person is chosen over a long list to fill a position of importance, and this immediately elevates them into fame and station, simply because they have this reputation. When he says something, he means it.
